Commissions
How a commission works
- Enquire. Use the contact form or talk to me at a market.
- Send your photos. Clear, well-lit photos, ideally taken at eye level.
- Get a quote. It covers medium, size, number of subjects, frame and delivery.
- Pay a 50% deposit by bank transfer to book your place.
- Approve a progress photo. Small changes are made at this stage.
- Pay the balance.
- Collect it free in Upper Hutt or at a market, or have it couriered (courier costs extra).
Turnaround: Usually 2–3 weeks, depending on size and my schedule.
Prices
Introductory offer - 25% discount on all commissions. The prices below already include it.
| Medium | 1 subject (A4) | 2 subjects (A3) | Each extra subject | Frame with acrylic sheet glazing |

| Charcoal |
- One subject is drawn on A4. Two or more subjects move up to A3, because a composition with several subjects needs more room.
- A subject is one person or one animal (for example a boy and his dog = 2).
- Glazing is acrylic sheet, not glass. Every frame includes it, to protect charcoal and pastel from smudging and dust. Acrylic sheet is lighter and shatter-resistant, so it is safer to post and hang.
- Courier costs extra and is quoted per order. Pickup in Upper Hutt or at a market is free.
- Prices are in NZ dollars.

Tips for reference photos
- Use natural daylight, not flash.
- Take the photo at eye level (for pets, get down to their level).
- Keep the face sharp and fill the frame; send the largest original file you have.
- For several subjects, a single photo with everyone is ideal, or send separate photos taken in similar light.
